Responsibilities

  • Acts as a clinical resource for other staff.
  • Assesses patient conditions and takes appropriate and timely action.
  • Maintains patient records on all procedures.
  • Assists the physician during cardiac cath lab procedures.
  • Maintains the catheterization procedure room and equipment.
  • Conducts physical inventory of supplies as required.
  • Implements emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Uses acceptable standards of practice to evaluate and implement changes in provision of nursing care with regards to accreditation guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited associate or baccalaureate academic program in health science (includes, but not limited to, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, cardiopulmonary technology, cardiovascular technology).
  • Minimum of three years of current allied health experience in an acute care setting with cardiac catherization or special procedures experience.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT(R)) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification as Healthcare Provider.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months.
