About the Role

Coordinates and performs aspects of patient care before, during, and after Cardiac Cath/EP Lab related procedures. Circulates, scrubs using aseptic or sterile technique, monitors and documents hemodynamics and patient events during procedures. Assists in recovering patients to provide quality care for those undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Cath/EP Lab. Utilizes and manages digital x-ray equipment and archiving systems.

Responsibilities

• Provides primary care for patients during pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure observation phases.
• Performs highly complex technical procedures requiring visual acuity, manual dexterity, and exposure to biohazardous materials, including bloodborne pathogens, minimal radiation, and hazardous chemicals.
• Observes changes in patient condition/status and responds in accordance with ACLS protocol.
• Completes documentation of procedures, including patient care, conscious sedation, medication administration, inventory utilization, procedural complications, and ongoing assessment of level of consciousness.
• Assists in moving patients or equipment and identifies, locates, assembles, cleans, and transports instruments and supplies.
• Escorts and directs patients, visitors, and physicians around the medical center.
• Provides basic and critical thinking during interventions based on patients’ conditions and needs.
• Ensures proper disposal, storage, and management of hazardous waste and pharmaceuticals, including annual RCRA training.
• Makes physical assessments of the department and equipment for proper functioning, cleanliness, and reports malfunctions to the Cath Lab Manager.
• Assists in unit/departmental patient care, quality assurance (QA), and inventory control.

Requirements

• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or a Registered Radiologic Technologist (RTR).
• If not currently registered, successful completion of the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Registry exam or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists exam within 12 months of hire.
• RCIS candidates must obtain licenses from the SC Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (LLR) and SC Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) within six months of hire.
• BLS certification required at hire; ACLS mandatory or must be completed within the 90-day probationary period.
• Ability to see, hear, and respond to physical emergencies expediently.
• Ability to apply the four senses (seeing, smelling, hearing, and touching) and speak English.
• Demonstrates competence in providing care for adult (18–65 years) and geriatric (over 65 years) patient populations.

Sign-on bonus: up to $20,000.
