About the role
The Team Leader provides day-to-day leadership and supervision of the clinical medical assistant team while supporting exceptional patient care, operational excellence, and quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily leadership, guidance, and support to clinical team members.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Cook up clinic workflow to ensure efficient patient flow and provider support.
- Partner with providers and operational leaders to resolve clinical and workflow issues.
- Absorb scheduling clinical staff to meet patient care needs.
- Maintain staffing levels and adjust assignments as needed.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new clinical team members.
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff through ongoing feedback and performance management.
- Absorb annual performance evaluations and professional development planning.
- Ensure team compliance with organizational policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor employee certifications and licenses to ensure they remain current.
- Promote quality improvement initiatives and patient satisfaction goals.
- Participate in department meetings and interdisciplinary committees.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with electronic medical record (EMR) standards.
- Protect patient privacy and maintain HIPAA compliance.
- Provide direct patient care and clinical support during staffing shortages or increased patient volume.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification from an accredited organization.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- One (1) to two (2) years of clinical medical assistant experience.
- Demonstrated leadership potential or prior supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and standard computer applications.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred
- Cardiology or cardiovascular practice experience.
- Previous experience leading or supervising clinical staff.
- Completion of EKG interpretation or cardiovascular diagnostic training.
