Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery Nocturnist - Full-Time NP/PA

About the role

Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, referral, and consultation in collaboration with a supervising physician. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served. Candidate must be able to work independently and efficiently with strong decision-making skills. Strong communication skills a must. Will be working with a variety of MDs, APPs and ancillary staff for inpatient management and coordination of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Shifts: Nocturnist – 12-hour shifts, proposed 7 days on/7 days off, (can be flexible), position is for night shift, 84 hours per pay period
• Weekends, Holidays required. No Call.
• Travel to other sites may be required.
• No OR responsibilities, but exposure to OR setting possible
• Procedures, including bedside talc pleurodesis, autologous blood patch, TPA instillation, chest tube removal, pericardial drain removal, and wound vac placements.

Requirements

• Graduated from an accredited NP or PA program AND maintain a current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina.
• Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required.
• Physician Assistants: certification from the NCCPA required
• Nurse Practitioners: Acute Care NP Certification required
• Experience in cardiology, cardiothoracic or vascular surgery preferred

• Practice highlights include busy practice averaging 1500 cases a year between cardiac and thoracic services, structured with inpatient, outpatient and surgical teams, and utilizes a closed ICU

Pay

$59.00 - $88.50 per hour
