Responsibilities

The Cardiac Invasive Lab Tech performs multiple roles within the cardiac laboratory, including:

  • Assisting physician(s) with invasive cardiac laboratory procedures
  • Conducting various cardiac tests to monitor patients’ heart and blood vessel conditions using diverse cardiology equipment
  • Preparing procedure rooms and prepping patients for procedures
  • Obtaining and recording patient information
  • Assisting physicians in procedures by circulating and scrubbing
  • X-ray fluoroscopy proficiency
  • Acquiring, measuring, and calculating hemodynamic data
  • Performing blood work analysis
  • Operating intracardiac ultrasound
  • Cleaning procedure rooms and preparing instruments for resterilization
  • Directing and practicing safety guidelines for staff and patients
  • Independently functioning during diagnostic and interventions with minimal supervision
  • Maintaining a high level of expertise in specialty procedures within their assigned lab, including:
    • Structural procedures and hemodynamics (Cath Lab)
    • Device and electrophysiology procedures (EP), hybrid extractions, and operating 3D mapping systems (Heart Rhythm Services Lab)

Will be required to work varied hours, shift lengths, and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology OR graduate of a radiography program OR candidate must be transitioning from a Cardiovascular Tech (CVT) role and have successfully passed the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) exam to become a certified Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES).

Eligibility Paths:

  • RCIS/RCES: Graduate of an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology.
  • Radiology Tech (RT): Graduate of an accredited radiography program and diagnostic certificate. At least one (1) year of vascular or cardiovascular lab experience preferred.
  • CVT: Must have successfully passed the RCES/RCIS exam. At least one (1) year of vascular or cardiovascular lab experience preferred.

Licensure or Certification:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • RCIS or RCES certification required through CCI within 18 months of hire into position.
  • If a Rad Tech, must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Must pass either Advanced Cardiac-Interventional exam or RCIS/RCES exam within 18 months of hire.

Pay

$35.45 - $53.15/hour. Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.

Schedule

  • Full Time
  • 80 hours per pay period
  • Monday-Friday with varying shifts between 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
  • 6-10 late shifts per month
  • 5-6 on-call weekends per year
