Canton Electric and Electronic Technician (Part-Time)

Job Description

General Statement of Duties: An employee in this classification is responsible for performing calibration, maintenance, and repair of various types of instrumentation, control devices, and electrical equipment; this includes complex computers as required for the ongoing operations of the Water Reclaimation Facility (WRF) facilities sufficient to meet applicable water quality criteria.

Distinguishing Features Of The Class: Performs maintenance and repair functions as described in the above General Statement of Duties, including manual dexterity as needed to perform fine calibration of instruments and controls. Physical mobility required for walking, bending, and stooping to inspect equipment and instrumentation throughout the facilities and for occasionally lifting motors, fans, and heavy tools.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of computers, electronics, pneumatic systems, hydraulics, telemetering principles, and equipment, electricity, motors, and motor controls.
• Good technical judgment.
• Ability to analyze situations and develop workable solutions.
• Ability to present ideas effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to assist and advise supervision.

Acceptable Experience And Training

• An Associate's degree from a college, university, or training school of recognized standing in electronics and electricity;
• At least three years of practical experience in similar work;
• Or any other combination of knowledge, training, and experience with provides the necessary skills is acceptable.

• SHOULD TEN OR FEWER QUALIFIED APPLICANTIONS BE RECEIVED, AN EXAMINATION MAY NOT BE REQUIRED UNLSS TESTING IS NEEDED TO MERGE APPLICANTS ONTO AN EXISTING LIST.
