Campus Undergraduate Summer Internship Program - 2027 Finance Controllership, Finance - Phoenix, AZ

About the Role

The Finance Organization drives business value by being a strategic partner in every decision made in support of the Company’s success. We bring a powerful combination of financial expertise, a deep understanding of complex analytics, a thorough knowledge of the risk environment, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity. This internship will provide an opportunity to work in the Controllership function of American Express Finance and is based in Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities

• Complete a project solving a real business challenge for the organization
• Participate in other initiatives and projects as assigned
• Assist with monthly general ledger close activities including completing journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assist in producing and reviewing monthly and quarterly financial reports
• Perform variance analysis and analytical procedures for assigned general ledger accounts
• Establish relationships and partner with subject matter experts key to Controllership accounting activities

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program
• Students must have a graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
• Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions

• Communication Skills – synthesize data into an easy-to-understand story and articulate key messages across multiple audiences

• Leadership – act and lead with courage, establish relationships, make decisions quickly, and influence change
