Campus Safety and Security Manager
About the role
The Campus Safety & Security Manager at Taft College is responsible for coordinating and supporting campus safety and security operations, providing leadership in emergency preparedness, and fostering a safe and welcoming learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Coverage of campus safety and security operations across the District.
- Supervision of campus safety personnel, including scheduling, training, evaluation, and operational oversight.
- Development and oversight of emergency preparedness and recovery plans in accordance with SEMS and NIMS requirements.
- Planning and participation in campus emergency preparedness and disaster response activities.
- Development and implementation of districtwide safety training initiatives and ensuring compliance with District safety training requirements.
- Investigation of incidents occurring on campus and in residence halls and preparation of related reports.
- Serving as the District's lead investigator for assigned campus safety, student conduct, employee misconduct, behavioral intervention, and related complaints or incidents.
- Supporting Title IX compliance efforts by assisting with safety assessments, investigative processes, documentation, response coordination, and related training activities.
- Coordination of campus safety support for college events and activities.
- Preparation of crime statistics and reports for inclusion in the District’s Annual Clery Act Report.
- Maintenance of the Daily Crime Log and ensuring timely completion of all required reporting.
- Conducting assessments of campus safety infrastructure, including lighting, cameras, emergency communication systems, radios, and related equipment.
- Serving as the District's primary operational liaison with law enforcement, fire, and emergency response agencies.
- Participation as a member of the College’s Behavior Intervention Team (BIT).
- Supporting a proactive, student-focused approach to campus safety and violence prevention.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, criminal justice, law enforcement, security or a closely related field and 2 years of supervisory responsibility in campus safety, law enforcement, or a combination of safety and law enforcement.
- Or Associates degree in related field, and 4 years of experience in campus safety, law enforcement, or a combination of safety and law enforcement, and two years of supervisory responsibility in campus safety, law enforcement, or a combination of safety and law enforcement.
- Ability to legally carry a firearm in a California institution of higher education.
- Ability to successfully complete training requirements under SB 390 within 60 days of employment.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds.
Desirable Qualifications
- Certification in Title IX training and any professionally recognized certifications in the security related field.
- Current California POST certification or higher.

This is a full-time, 12-month per year position with fantastic benefits! This position is a grade 12 on the management salary schedule, with a starting range of $88,775-$101,789. This is an exempt management positoin. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required to support district operations and emergency response needs. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
