About the role
Founded in 1982, Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay is a not-for-profit, faith-based Life Plan Community located along the southern shore of Chesapeake Bay. Our mission is to enrich lives through the power of purpose, belonging, and wellness.
Responsibilities
- Conducts patrols of all buildings and grounds on and around campus and WCCB premises.
- Screens and ensures proper identification of those permitted on campus.
- Responds to medical emergencies and other emergencies on campus.
- Manages patrol parking, enforces parking policies, and manages violations such as writing tickets and towing vehicles.
- Communicates effectively with residents, family members, staff, and guests, demonstrating respect, passion, and professionalism.
- Performs minor maintenance functions as needed.
- Provides assistance to the Fire Department when summoned.
- Manages the handling and reporting of safety violations and mechanical problems.
- Understands and follows disaster plans for various scenarios.
- Communicates using proper radio call signs and procedures.
- Assists in rescue situations, managing anyone trapped in an elevator.
- Must know and understand procedures for fire emergencies, fire department arrival, and evacuation of residents and HCC/ALC patients.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft and Google applications.
- Maintains physical capabilities to meet the demands of the job, including lifting 50 lbs, climbing stairs, and walking long distances.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Must be 21 years of age
- Valid Driver's License
- CPR Certification (or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire)
- Willing to get annual flu vaccine during flu season (October to May)
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Safety & Security Officer preferred
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Patience, empathy, and understanding towards older adults
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical stamina and ability to meet job requirements

Schedule
Full-time; Friday - Tuesday 12am - 8am
