About the role
The Campus Child Care Specialist provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging care environment for children during scheduled hours on campus. This role supports colleges' family-friendly policies and ensures parents can participate in academic responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Serves as an information resource for students, staff, and faculty regarding available quality child care.
- Interviews clients for special child care requirements.
- Provides responsive care to children by adapting daily routines and plans to individual needs.
- Maintains ongoing communication with parents, caregivers, and supervisor.
- Schedules and organizes support staff.
- Conducts supervision of teacher assistants.
- Completes daily snack preparations.
- Records accurate attendance records.
- Maintains up-to-date emergency forms.
- Reports any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor and/or child abuse hotline.
- Ensures teacher assistants are kept updated on classroom matters.
- Completes and reports any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor and/or child abuse hotline.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education and experience sufficient to meet the rigors of the position.
- Demonstrated experience working with the needs and concerns of college student parents who have childcare requirements.
- First aid and CPR certification are preferred or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Qualifications
- High school or GED with a combination of six months of equivalent education/training and childcare experience.
- Associate’s degree in early childhood education, or related field, and some related experience.
- Preferable bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities.
Skills
- Responsible, kind, and dedicated individual to provide quality caring and enrichment activities for children ages three through twelve.
- Adept in understanding staffing and turnover within Early Childhood education.
- Exceptional verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.
- Organize and prioritize work while exercising flexibility, teamwork, and humor.

Pay
$25.95 per hour.
Schedule
Part-time position limited to 28 hours per CMC’s work week (Saturday through Friday). Work hours are primarily evenings and approximately 10-15 hours per week, with times varying.
