Responsibilities
- Assist the CT Tree Maintenance Supervisor in planning and scheduling work.
- Oversee and lead a crew in the field, keeping accurate records of labor, equipment, and material usage.
- Make field decisions affecting worker and public safety.
- Assume duties to train and plan the work of subordinates in the absence of the CT Tree Maintenance Supervisor.
- Maintain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and operate vehicles, machinery, and tools.
- Perform labor-intensive work associated with maintaining the state highway system during emergency operations and special assignments.
- Overnight travel out of town up to 50% of the time may be required to meet operational needs.
Requirements
- Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) with an unrestricted Class B commercial driver’s license and Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement.
- Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC), Landscape Maintenance or Right-of-Way Pest Control Category, issued by the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal-EPA). Certification must be obtained prior to appointment.
- Pass a drug screening and background investigation prior to hire.
- Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Landscape Maintenance Leadworker exam. New or non-state employees must be on the state examination list for eligibility.
Qualifications
Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If basing eligibility on education, unofficial transcript(s)/diploma must be provided for verification. Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a U.S. equivalency report evaluation from a NACES or AICE approved agency.
Pay
$5,119.00 - $6,696.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
