CALTRANS HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE LEADWORKER

Working Title: Caltrans Highway Maintenance Leadworker

Salary range: $5,119.00 - $6,696.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Multiple full-time, 12-month limited-term positions located in San Luis Obispo County. In-office work; alternate work shifts (e.g., 9/80, 4/10, or night work) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and work with a maintenance crew engaged in maintaining highways and related facilities.
• Operate specific equipment required for the class (must possess a Class B license).
• Perform non-leadworker duties as part of normal assignment.

Requirements

• Pass a drug screening prior to hire.
• Possess a valid Class B commercial driver’s license with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement.
• Possess a valid driver’s license when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle.
• Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Highway Maintenance Leadworker exam. Candidates without current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) or new to state civil service must be on the state examination list.
