CALTRANS HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE LEADWORKER

Job Description And Duties

Working under the supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent performs lead worker duties and operates light vehicles and equipment used by assigned unit requiring a class B commercial driver’s license with tank vehicle (N) endorsement. Incumbent may work for other supervisors and/or crews as workload dictates. Will conduct training for other members of the crew. Works with and assists in supervising the work of a crew engaged in sign maintenance on highways and highway structures. Incumbent may be responsible for special assignments such as installing and maintaining traffic signs of such size and complexity as to require special mobile equipment. May operate specialty equipment when appropriately qualified and properly licensed.

Special Requirements

• The position requires a valid Class B commercial driver’s license, with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement.

Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available). SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; therefore, individuals with other eligibility may be considered in the event no SROA or Surplus candidates apply. Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s). Pay

$5,119.00 - $6,696.00. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
