CALTRANS HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE LEADWORKER

About the role

The position is located at 15525 Hesperian Blvd., San Leandro, Alameda County. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Assists with various raised marker, striping, and pavement marking operations.
• Handles and lifts large quantities of 35 to 50 lb. bags or boxes.
• Grinding operations and operation and care of light trucks and commercial vehicles used for pavement delineation.
• Communicate and follow simple written and oral directions.
• Keep records and perform heavy manual labor.
• Timekeeping, inputting work orders, use of materials, and logging equipment use.
• Enforce all Director’s Policies and Deputy Directives.
• Traveling is required and occasionally, work out of town may be mandated on 'per diem.'

Requirements

• Valid Class B Driver License with Tank endorsement and a current medical examiner certificate.
• Valid Class A Driver License is desirable.
• Must answer questions addressing your CDL on your application.
• Pass a Drug Screening prior to being hired.
• Possess a valid Class B driver’s license with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

SkillsKnowledge of basic safe work practices and the provisions of the California Vehicle Code.

Ability to communicate and follow simple written and oral directions.

Ability to keep records and perform heavy manual labor.

Pay

$5,119.00 - $6,696.00 per Month

Schedule

Rotating or irregular shifts, including weekends, nights, holidays, overtime, and be able to respond to after-hour emergencies.
