CALTRANS HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE WORKER
About the role
The incumbent operates light vehicles and equipment requiring a Class C driver's license used by assigned unit, and works individually or with a crew performing tasks related to highway maintenance work. May be required to work in snow areas during the winter months to assist with snow removal.
Responsibilities
- Operates light vehicles and equipment requiring a Class C driver's license used by assigned unit
- Works individually or with a crew performing tasks related to highway maintenance work
- May be required to work in snow areas during the winter months to assist with snow removal
- Works under the supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor
- Responds to emergency call-outs
- Works temporary and/or intermittent varied work shifts
- Works loaned to other cost centers to help during storm events and other natural disasters
- Works normal maintenance operations
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Class C driver's license
Qualifications
The position requires a Drug Screening and a Background Investigation to be passed prior to being hired. The position requires a valid and Class C driver's license. Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.

$4,102.00 - $4,865.00
Schedule
The incumbent will be on the 9/80 work schedule. The schedule may change at the discretion of the District Management and/or Supervisor. The incumbent may be scheduled to work the night shift during the months of November, December, January, February, March, and April or as scheduled by the Maintenance Supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work overtime, which may include weekends and holidays due to storms, emergencies, special work projects, or when the Supervisor deems that it is in the best interest of the State to work overtime.
