About the role
The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) is seeking a dedicated Programme Officer to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution and coordination of WSCIJ's programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, execution, and monitoring of programme activities.
- Ensure operational efficiency and track deliverables, proactively addressing challenges.
- Oversee event coordination, training sessions, and stakeholder engagements.
- Maintain and strengthen partnerships across media, civil society, academia, and government.
- Collect and analyse programme data, contributing to monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL).
- Ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards in programme operations.
- Develop programme-related communications, impact stories, and reports.
- Optimise workflows for collaboration and effectiveness.
Key Competencies for Success
- Programme Coordination & Execution – Ability to manage multiple programme elements while ensuring smooth implementation and reporting.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building – Strong communication skills to liaise with funders, partners, and media collaborators.
- Data Management & Reporting – Proficiency in collecting, analysing, and translating programme data into actionable insights.
- Logistical & Administrative Expertise – Ability to coordinate events, track budgets, and maintain programme schedules efficiently.
- Strategic Thinking & Problem-Solving – Capacity to anticipate challenges, offer solutions, and streamline programme workflows.
- Compliance & Ethical Standards – Commitment to maintaining programme integrity and adherence to legal and organisational guidelines.
Who We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 5+ years of experience in programme coordination within media, civil society, or nonprofit spaces.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills for efficient programme execution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and data management tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) frameworks is an advantage.
