Responsibilities

  • State Park Peace Officer (SPPO): Provide public safety law enforcement and aquatic rescue services, and interpret park resources.
  • State Park Equipment Operator: Work with heavy equipment to maintain roads, flood control, and fire prevention.
  • Museum Technician and Curator: Help maintain and preserve the state parks' rich and varied collections.
  • Park Maintenance Worker: Keep facilities safe and preserve natural, cultural, and historical resources.
  • Park and Recreation Specialist: Develop outdoor recreation programs and assist in creating new parks.
  • State Park Interpreter: Develop and teach interactive educational programs about California's rich history.

Requirements

  • State Park Peace Officer (SPPO): Valid driver's license, physical fitness, and completion of academy training.
  • State Park Equipment Operator: Valid driver's license, physical fitness, and relevant experience.
  • Museum Technician and Curator: Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, or related field.
  • Park Maintenance Worker: High school diploma or equivalent, and valid driver's license.
  • Park and Recreation Specialist: Bachelor's degree in recreation, park administration, or related field.
  • State Park Interpreter: Bachelor's degree in education, communication, or related field.

Qualifications

  • State Park Peace Officer (SPPO): Must be a U.S. citizen, meet physical fitness requirements, and complete academy training.
  • State Park Equipment Operator: Must be a U.S. citizen, meet physical fitness requirements, and have relevant experience.
  • Museum Technician and Curator: Must have a bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, or related field.
  • Park Maintenance Worker: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver's license.
  • Park and Recreation Specialist: Must have a bachelor's degree in recreation, park administration, or related field.
  • State Park Interpreter: Must have a bachelor's degree in education, communication, or related field.

  • Museum Technician and Curator: Range $3,432.00 - $10,149.00 plus benefits.
  • Park Maintenance Worker: Range $3,868.00 - $10,049.00 plus benefits.
  • Park and Recreation Specialist: Range $3,749.00 - $10,049.00 plus benefits.
  • State Park Interpreter: Range $4,788.00 - $10,049.00 plus benefits.
