About the role
The California State Parks are recruiting for a vacant Museum Director position. To qualify, potential candidates must complete an assessment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage complex programs and projects, including fiscal management, budgeting, personnel, long-range planning, fund raising, grant writing and management, marketing, public relations, or program development.
- Steward California State Parks' rich and varied collections and material culture.
- Interpret shared knowledge and foster educational opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong community relationships.
Requirements
The minimum qualifications for the Museum Director assessment include:
- Five years of broad and extensive administrative or management experience.
Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who bring diverse perspectives.
Skills
The ideal candidate should have:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Experience in museum curation and interpretation.
- Ability to develop and manage budgets and fundraising campaigns.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
Benefits
The salary range for this position is $10,010 to $11,367 per month.

About the Assessment
Completing this assessment is a requirement to become a California State Parks Museum Director. This means that to apply for any Museum Director position statewide, a candidate must first take the assessment. The exam is weighted 100% on a training and experience evaluation. Evaluation will be based on your knowledge, skills, and ability, as demonstrated by your education/experience.
