Calibration Technician -2nd Shift

Our Joplin, MO facility manufactures state-of-the-art wiring harnesses for Aerospace, Defense, Industrial, and Medical industries.

About the role

Ensure only calibrated equipment is in use and traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Perform failure analysis to component level using schematics and various types of test equipment. Provide recommendations for rework based on findings and communicate instructions to production personnel. Maintain records in compliance with MIL-STD-45662A, ISO 10012-1, ANSI/NCSL Z540, or other applicable standards. Review manufacturing work instructions, generate inspection instructions, and coordinate quality tests. Audit company procedures and processes to AS/ISO requirements and revise quality assurance operating procedures as needed. Assist in coordinating training, including quality systems, manufacturing methods, and related policies. Ensure manufacturing personnel are trained in standards such as IPC-A-610, ESD, and soldering. Work independently with minimal supervision and manage hazardous waste safely.

Responsibilities

• Maintain workplace, tools, equipment, and materials in clean and orderly condition
• Review customer purchase orders and schedule quality tests
• Audit company procedures and processes to AS/ISO requirements
• Revise quality assurance operating procedures and facilities manual
• Assist in coordinating company training, including quality systems and manufacturing methods
• Ensure manufacturing personnel are trained in standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, ESD, soldering)
• Schedule training classes with team leaders or consultants
• Perform failure analysis to component level using schematics and test equipment
• Provide rework recommendations and communicate instructions to production personnel
• Responsible for proper handling and management of hazardous waste
• Work safely and be aware of surroundings
• Perform other assignments as required

Requirements

• High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in a technical field or equivalent electronics manufacturing/quality experience
• 2+ years of manufacturing or electronics experience
• 1+ years of related gage calibration experience preferred
• Gagetrak or Gagepak experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret instructions and drawings

Skills

• Ability to operate electronic test and mechanical gauging equipment (e.g., multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, thermal cycle ovens)
• Measurement skills: knowledge of the seven base units of the International System of Units (meter, kilogram, second, ampere, kelvin, candela, mole) and ability to calculate/convert derived units (e.g., degree, ohm, joule)
• Understanding of applied and technical mathematics, including probability, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
• Ability to read electronic schematics, wire lists, and dimensional data to close tolerances
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Knowledge of J-Std-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, ISO 9001:2000, AS9100, and Mil Specs
• Troubleshooting skills to determine why measurements/test results are outside expected ranges
• Intermediate computer skills (email, Word, Excel, Access)
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
• Understanding of electrical safety when working with high voltage and current sources
