Calibration Technician - 1st Shift

Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is seeking a Calibration Technician for our Turners Falls, MA office. This role involves administering and maintaining metrology equipment, ensuring accurate product acceptance, and collaborating with managers, supervisors, production personnel, vendors, and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and catalog instruments and gauges requiring calibration and/or repair.
  • Perform and/or delegate calibration and repairs to competent/accredited third parties.
  • Maintain instruments, gauges, and reference standards per NIST, customer, OEM, and regulatory requirements.
  • Set up and maintain catalogs, databases, recall systems, and documentation.
  • Prepare SOPs, forms, and guidelines in compliance with ISO-10012, ANSI-Z-540, MIL-STD-45662A, and other relevant standards.
  • Prepare RFCs (Request for Capital) for calibration-related expenses and annual budget proposals.
  • Review and approve metrology-related acquisitions and purchases for the plant.
  • Initiate purchase orders to maintain inventory of test and measurement parts and spares.
  • Complete calibrations, qualifications, and preventive maintenance safely, accurately, and without direct supervision.
  • Ensure proper handling and maintenance of Judd’s and client equipment, including testing and standards equipment.
  • Perform routine equipment repairs and detect/report defective materials or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Suggest equipment upgrades and observe all safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED combined with 2-5 years of progressive learning experience.
  • Associate degree or certificate in electronics, mechanical trades, engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of measurement principles regarding pressure, temperature, flow, mass, and electrical signals.
  • Familiarity with quality standards including ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, ANSI Z540, or cGMP guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain constant mental and visual attention/alertness to diverse testing procedures and activities.

Pay

Hiring range: $28.12 - $34.88/hour (non-exempt). Overtime paid after 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week.
