About The Role

Buchart Horn is seeking a versatile CADD Designer/Inspector to join our Water Resources Strategic Business Unit. This role combines hands-on design with construction inspection responsibilities, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to projects from planning and design through construction. Working closely with engineers and project managers, you will support water and wastewater infrastructure projects by preparing technical drawings, reviewing construction work, and ensuring projects meet quality and safety standards. This position allows for professional growth in both technical design and field inspection, and you will play a direct role in shaping critical infrastructure in the communities we serve.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare layouts, sketches, drawings, and contract documents using AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, Revit, or GEOPAC
  • Perform engineering calculations, research materials, and develop simple design solutions under supervision
  • Conduct inspections on construction sites to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirements
  • Maintain accurate records, including shop drawings, field observations, and “as-built” documentation
  • Assist with payment applications, change orders, and project reporting
  • Cook up with contractors, clients, and project managers to resolve issues and recommend modifications as needed
  • Support BIM and CAD documentation and ensure adherence to company standards
  • Follow quality control procedures and maintain a safe work environment on site and in the office

Qualifications

  • Technical or Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in engineering design or construction inspection
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation; working knowledge of Civil 3D, Revit, or GEOPAC
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction practices
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in both office and field settings
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites
  • NICET certifications or ability to obtain NICET Level IV for water/wastewater or transportation projects preferred
