CAD Operator III

About the role

Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a CAD Operator III with a large power and utilities client in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12‑month contract with potential for extension. The position is hybrid – three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

• Transform preliminary engineering and product designs into detailed construction and engineering documents using CAD software.
• Develop, modify, and review drawings to ensure compliance with established specifications, standards, and design requirements.
• Create, revise, and maintain detailed engineering and design drawings.
• Ensure designs adhere to company, industry, and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with engineers and project teams to resolve design issues and incorporate revisions.
• Perform quality reviews of drawings and documentation.
• Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting schedule and quality expectations.
• May lead design efforts and provide technical direction to other designers.

Requirements

• 5‑10 years of CAD design experience in engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or a related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and working knowledge of MicroStation.
• Experience reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, sketches, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of drafting standards, design practices, and quality control processes.
• Ability to work independently on complex assignments and provide guidance to less experienced team members.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD 3D.
• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related technical discipline.

Pay

$23.00 – $28.00 per hour; W2 contract.

Schedule

12‑month contract with potential for extension; hybrid schedule – three days per week in the office.
