Responsibilities
- Using AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create, modify, and maintain 2D technical drawings and graphic presentations of complex electrical/electronics‑related items, including components, assemblies, equipment racks, panels, and cable routing
- Interpreting engineering input (sketches, redlines, mark‑ups, models, specifications, and verbal guidance) and converting it into accurate, complete, and properly formatted drawings and diagrams
- Ensuring all drawings comply with applicable DoD and industry drawing standards, including MIL‑DTL‑31000 and relevant ASME drawing standards (e.g., ASME Y14 series), with correct use of layers, line weights, symbols, dimensions, tolerances, notes, title blocks, and revision blocks
- Preparing and updating graphic presentations and drawing packages to support design reviews, installations, test activities, logistics documentation, and technical manuals
- Supporting CM and revision control processes by updating drawing revisions, maintaining drawing logs, documenting changes, and coordinating with configuration/data management personnel to keep technical data current and traceable
- Collaborating with engineers, technicians, and CM staff to clarify requirements, resolve discrepancies, and ensuring that drawings accurately represent the intended design and installation
- Organizing, labeling, and archiving drawings and associated documentation in accordance with contract, security, and quality management protocols, ensuring traceability and availability for government review and audits
- Developing digital illustrations, schematics, and other graphics that support procedures, training materials, briefings, and other technical documentation associated with supported electronic systems
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- At least three years of experience drafting/illustrating in the electronics field, including:
- Use of computerized drafting applications
- Digital imaging techniques
- Proficient use of AutoCAD
- Planning and preparing graphic presentations of complex items
- With experience supporting DoD processes and procedures
- Relevant Technical Experience: At least three years of relevant technical field experience using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD in support of electronics‑related drafting and modeling
- Experience modeling and drafting various components and systems from conceptual (“blank sheet”) inputs, turning high‑level design intent into complete, production‑ready drawings
- Knowledge of DoD and industry drawing standards and procedures, including MIL‑DTL‑31000 and applicable ASME drawing standards (e.g., ASME Y14 series)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for drawing lists, revision logs, and supporting documentation
- Ability to produce and update 2D technical drawings and graphic presentations for electrical/electronic components, assemblies, wiring/cable layouts, and system‑level layouts
- Experience supporting configuration management and revision control (drawing revisions, logs, coordination with CM/data managers)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to clearly document and present drawing changes for internal and government review
Skills
- Associate’s degree from a school in drafting or illustration and at least two years of related experience in the electronics field, or High School diploma or GED with at least five years of related experience in the electronics field
- Including AutoCAD, digital imaging, graphic presentations of complex items, and DoD processes and procedures
- USMC drawing format experience, including familiarity with USMC‑specific drawing templates, title
