Duties and responsibilities
- Provide quality drawings and improve methods to increase efficiency in drawing production, generating revenue by reducing costs and time.
- Maintain effective communication, efficient collaboration, and coordination with external clients, customers, and contractors; work closely with internal departments and customers to manage schedules, implement changes, and revise operational procedures.
- Create detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
- Generate CAD models, drawings, and design documents based on sketches, verbal concept descriptions, actual prototypes, marked-up drawings, and vendor information.
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or reduce production problems.
- Identify new ways to improve assembly efficiency and product quality in a fast-paced, diverse production environment.
- Aid production project leads and staff in managing Bill of Materials (BOMs), configuration management, change management, and part identification and procurement.
- Perform document checking on non-complicated drawings created by others.
- Promote a positive working environment to achieve the organization's goals.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Degree from a recognized CAD training facility, engineering, industrial technology, computer science, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-3 years of experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD &/or nesting.
- Required: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, engineering, industrial technology, computer science, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD &/or nesting. Experience in drawings, working with templates, and basic understanding and interest of CAD and nesting software. Experience in the cutting of steel with oxy-fuel or plasma. Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality system and standards.
