CAD Drafter

About the role

The Mechanical Designer/Drafter will join a growing team that designs, fabricates, and installs air handling systems for pulp and paper facilities. The role involves supporting the business, working with customers, fabrication shops, and field crews. Responsibilities include taking customer specifications, designing from start to finish, traveling to customer sites for field measurements, using existing drawings, creating detailed drawing packages, and providing estimates.

Responsibilities

• Takes customer specifications and designs from start to finish
• Travels to customer sites for field measurements
• Uses existing drawings and data collected to draw project specifications
• Sends to the customer for approval and makes adjustments as requested
• Provides estimates based on cost of materials and installation
• Designs ductwork and mechanical systems for industrial air handling systems using AutoCAD 3D
• Produces detailed drawing packages from design documents and field measurements
• Performs tasks required to complete field measurements and detailed note taking
• Responsible for all stages of design, from concept through detailing

Requirements

• 2 years of drafting experience
• Mechanical or structural CAD experience preferred
• Formal training in AutoCAD through a certification program or technical degree
• Experience with mechanical air systems design or structural fabrication design
• Skills or background associated with mechanical construction/fabrication disciplines (plumbing, piping, sheet metal, ductwork)
• Ability to perform tasks required to complete field measurements and detailed note taking
• Willingness and ability to travel required, with per diem pay
• Professional appearance required

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pensacola, FL.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
