Cable Technician

About the role

The Communications Technician installs work area outlets, modular furniture, and wall outlets. Duties include routing cables through modular furniture, performing pre-termination procedures, suspending and supporting cables, building closets, installing grounding, performing fire-stopping procedures, pulling cable through sleeves and core penetrations, terminating low-voltage devices, and more.

Responsibilities

• Install work area outlets, modular furniture, and wall outlets
• Rout cables through modular furniture
• Perform pre-termination procedures
• Suspend and support cables
• Build closets (mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware)
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required
• Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, and pull cable through sleeves and core penetration
• Terminate low-voltage devices

Requirements

• Must be able to work in an outdoor or indoor construction work environment
• Self-motivated, positive in approach, professional, and able to create, develop, and implement project process improvement(s)
• Must promote the company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners
• Proven skill level or the ability to learn to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements
• Able to work at heights, off a ladder, and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
• Able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
