Cable Technician
About the role
The Communications Technician II will perform various tasks related to structured cabling, including installing outlets, mounting faceplates and boxes, building closets, and performing tests on cables.
Responsibilities
- Install work area outlets, CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, and terminate cables.
- Build and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic components.
- Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cables as required.
- Complete IDC connections, including terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
- Perform testing: continuity tests, use of volt-ohmmeters, troubleshoot cable issues, and use a tone set.
- Identify active voice or data circuits.
- Assume responsibility for crew performance, provide training, coordinate timelines, and ensure project completion.
- Avoid errors in paperwork, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, and other required documents.
- Adhere to and participate in Company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Mental and Physical Requirements
- Self-motivated, positive approach, professional demeanor, and ability to create and implement project processes.
- Knowledgeable about the Company culture and mission, capable of interfacing with customer representatives.
- Proven problem-solving, critical thinking, reading, writing, and oral presentation skills.
- Ability to work at heights, off ladders, and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds.
- Visual acuity, reading small print, hearing, and recognizing audible signals such as dial tones.
- Ability to travel within the branch or regional territory as needed.
- Maintain regular attendance.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
