Cable Technician

About the role

Cable Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring secure and reliable communication infrastructure for USCENTCOM leaders. They install, terminate, patch, and splice fiber optic and copper cables in classified environments.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot issues with Link Runner AT2000 cable testers.
  • Install cabling infrastructure under floors or in ceilings.
  • Ensure cables are properly labeled and identified.
  • Complete work orders using Remedy online system.
  • Patch network cables in Telecommunications Rooms on multiple levels of classifications and networks.

Requirements and Skills

  • Proven work experience as a Cable Technician or similar role.
  • 5+ years experience installing, terminating, patching & splicing Fiber optic cables and Copper (CAT5/6) Ethernet cables.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic connectors LC, SC, MTRJ, ST, etc.
  • Ability to use a RJ45 crimper & punch-down tool for terminating copper.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to work under floors and on ladders on a daily basis.
  • BICSI certifications are preferred.
  • Willingness to travel CONUS & OCCONUS up to 10% each year.
  • Current/active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI status.

Qualifications

US Citizenship required due to the required Top Secret clearance status.

Pay

The likely salary range for this position is $73,965 - $96,600. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Travel Required: Less than 10%
