BUSINESS TAXES SPECIALIST II, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
About the role
The Business Taxes Specialist (BTS) II serves as lead auditor over teams of experienced auditors on the most difficult and complex audits. This position involves managing large-scale audits of multinational corporations and providing technical guidance to audit teams.
Responsibilities
- Conducts audit appointments and interacts with tax managers, directors, and corporate officers.
- Explains audit findings and prepares detailed audit reports and correspondence.
- Provides technical guidance and leadership to audit teams, particularly in emerging industries and controversial issues.
- Assists in special projects and tasks as necessary, including assisting the office reviewer.
- Makes up to 50% of work time traveling to various locations statewide, including evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.
Requirements
- Permanent civil service appointment with CDTFA.
- Current or former employees of the legislature for 2 or more years.
- Current or former non-elected exempt employees of the executive branch for 2 or more consecutive years.
- Retired from the United States military with a service disability or honorable discharge.

Pay
The starting salary for this position ranges from $8,020.00 to $10,542.00 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with the possibility of rotating into the BTS II audit review position. Positions may require up to 50% travel, including overnight trips.
