Job Summary

The Business System Analyst supports Dallas College's Project Management Office (PMO), bridging IT and business strategy to align project requests with institutional goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and track project intake functions, validate submissions, and follow up with requestors.
  • Conduct initial assessments of proposed projects to determine scope, feasibility, impact, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Prioritize and categorize projects within the portfolio to optimize resource allocation and scheduling.
  • Prepare summary reports and recommendations for PMO and executive leadership review.
  • Liaise between IT department and executive branch, assess IT systems, and suggest improvements.
  • Understand and communicate technical options, limitations, costs, and risks to business partners.
  • Resolve competing priorities between stakeholder groups by facilitating discussions and escalating issues.

Requirements and Documentation

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document business requirements, workflows, and success criteria.
  • Create implementation requirements and develop IT plans based on organizational needs.
  • Enhance the quality of IT products and services by keeping up to date on latest applications of information technology.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for project and portfolio management systems.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in intake and assessment processes, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and improve transparency.
  • Ensure compliance with Dallas College policies, procedures, and governance standards.

Additional Required Duties

  • Dallas College professional development hours per academic year.
  • Perform other duties not listed as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum and Preferred – Education, Experience, and/or Certifications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and data analysis/reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of portfolio governance, resource management, and strategic alignment frameworks.
  • Familiarity with project intake or demand management systems and related methodologies.
  • Experience in business analysis and stakeholder engagement.
