Business Systems Administrator
About the role
Help shape and support the business systems that power our organization. Hastings Insurance is seeking a Business Systems Administrator to join our Business Solutions Group.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders, business users, and technical teams to understand business needs, objectives, and system requirements.
- Gather, analyze, document, and validate business requirements for system enhancements, updates, and new functionality.
- Create workflow diagrams, process documentation, specifications, and other supporting materials to guide system modifications and enhancements.
- Build, maintain, and support product offerings, rating structures, forms, and business rules within applicable business systems.
- Manage system changes, enhancements, updates, and configurations to support business operations.
- Assist in evaluating solution options and facilitate communication between business partners and delivery teams.
- Collaborate in the planning, design, testing, deployment, and support of new applications and enhancements to existing systems.
- Troubleshoot system issues, document findings, and help coordinate resolution efforts with internal teams and business partners.
- Develop and maintain procedural documentation, reference materials, and user resources.
- Support system access administration and user security within assigned systems.
- Communicate system changes, enhancements, and updates to stakeholders and end users.
- Serve as a resource for business users by providing guidance, support, and system-related assistance.
- Actively participate in professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience supporting, administering, configuring, or enhancing business systems and applications.
- Experience gathering and documenting business requirements and translating business needs into system solutions.
- Ability to create clear, concise documentation, workflow diagrams, process maps, and specifications.
- Understanding of software development, testing, implementation, and support processes.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to coordinate activities, manage priorities, and work effectively across multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience working with business applications, system configurations, or business process workflows.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting business systems within the property and casualty insurance industry.
- Experience with product configuration, rating, forms, business rules, or policy administration systems.
- Experience participating in software testing, implementation, and system enhancement initiatives.
- Leverage Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or related process improvement experience.
- Familiarity with workflow modeling, process mapping, and business process documentation.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000 annually.
Schedule
This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role may be performed onsite at our Hastings, Michigan headquarters, in a hybrid arrangement, or remotely. Candidates residing in Michigan are strongly preferred, as regular onsite collaboration is expected, including a monthly in-office presence at our Hastings headquarters and additional visits as business needs require. Candidates residing outside of Michigan may be considered in limited circumstances.
