About the role

The Business Partner HR (CND) serves as the primary Human Resources customer service support point of contact for the Child Nutrition Department. This role coordinates and provides high-level support for workforce staffing and planning, employee investigations, and leave management. The HRBP acts as a liaison between the department and Human Resources, Business & Finance, Risk Management, Payroll, and other FBISD departments, ensuring strategic alignment of human resources processes with district objectives. The position works closely with department leaders to proactively assess HR-related business needs and implement actions to develop and leverage organizational talent.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate human resources and business knowledge, consulting with other HR departments on behalf of business leaders.
  • Provide timely and effective solutions to applicants, employees, supervisors, and managers, displaying the highest level of customer service.
  • Serve as the primary facilitator to proactively reach staffing goals and secure top talent for the District.
  • Analyze staffing trends, key metrics, and compliance requirements to develop and implement strategies for employee retention.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to plan, organize, and lead recruitment tasks and projects, attracting, engaging, developing, and retaining diverse talent.
  • Provide first-level support to resolve and/or escalate personnel issues, working directly with Employee Relations for complex matters.
  • Serve as a human resources expert, ensuring compliance with district policies, federal, and state laws.
  • Assist in department reorganizations or restructures, addressing management change while maintaining productivity and compliance.
  • Lead the development and implementation of HR processes and improvement plans.
  • Develop, interpret, and implement policies and procedures regarding human resources.
  • Manage and maintain employee leave records, tracking requests, approvals, eligibility, balances, and return-to-work dates in compliance with regulations.
  • Advise managers on progressive discipline, conduct workplace investigations, assess findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Child Nutrition Department leadership to ensure consistent application of HR policies and compliance with employment laws.
  • Perform other job-related duties to support departmental operations and organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional Human Resources (PHR) Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in educational leadership or progressive human resources experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
  • Experience interfacing with senior leaders and demonstrating command skills/presence.
  • Ability to develop and align HR strategy with business initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment, manage complex issues, and promote an inclusive/diverse workforce.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of human resources information management systems and database utilization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of district human resources policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations, and meeting rooms.
  • Occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying items under 40 pounds.
  • Regular use of hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Requires close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Attendance at conferences and professional development is required.
  • May work prolonged or irregular hours and must maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Travel to various campuses, district meeting sites, and conferences/meetings in and out of state is required.
  • May require working some evenings and weekends.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
