Business Office Specialist
About the role
The Business Office Specialist supports the Financial Operations Officer and the financial, accounting, and operations of Boys Town. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with financial aspects of contracts and grants, managing invoices, purchasing, and disbursements, assisting with payroll, and providing administrative support.
Responsibilities
- Provides administrative business support.
- Administers and monitors departmental financial activities including invoices, purchasing, and disbursements.
- Completes departmental payroll processing as needed.
- Affords assistance with and preparation of special projects (e.g., surveys and statistical analyses).
- Affords assistance in the development and implementation of department business policies and procedures and recommends appropriate changes.
- Reviews and audits department compliance with fiscal and HR policies and procedures.
- Provides administrative support including record-keeping, filing, phone coverage, mail, data entry, and other support as needed.
- Provides training and assistance as needed.
- Updates and maintains financial and statistical data as needed.
- May be required to act as the designated HR Rep at the site.
- May be required to coordinate facilities maintenance.
- May recruit and train potential volunteers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of administrative support experience, preferably including experience with accounting or billing required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
Physical Requirements, Equipment Usage, Work Environment
The position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimal exposure to physical risks. Uses office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
