About the role
A Business Manager, Sales Operations for International Acceptance (IA) at Discover Global Payment Network (GPN) applies strategic, analytical, and operational skills to major international growth challenges. This individual contributor role involves building data-driven sales processes, designing robust sales planning models, and optimizing pipeline reporting.
Responsibilities
- Sales Planning & Market Coverage: Execute and refine the semi-annual sales planning model to forecast progress towards sales targets, track incentive spend, and set localized sales targets. Ensure relationship manager (RM) mapping to partners is accurately maintained to align global resources with high-value SC opportunities.
- Strategic Analysis & Insights: Identify international business challenges and unlock expansion opportunities by driving deep analytical insights from sales activity and outcome data. Utilize rigorous qualitative and quantitative analysis to deliver tactical and strategic recommendations to leadership.
- Reporting & Performance Tracking: Own the generation and delivery of consistent market and individual sales performance reporting aligned to the global sales funnel. Partner across teams to design, automate, and roll out individual sales scorecards and Monthly Business Review (MBR) reporting structures.
- CRM Data Governance: Serve as the functional owner for Salesforce data quality within the IA track, maintaining standard definitions for sales funnel stages, merchant taxonomies, and spend coverage data flows. Partner with Global Network Analytics (GNA) to ensure data elements remain standardized across priority markets.
- Sales Excellence & Process Redesign: Collaborate with Marketing and central Sales Enablement teams to build common onboarding processes and establish a unified sales learning curriculum. Define "Sales Excellence" standard work, optimizing daily operating rhythms and encouraging positive CRM hygiene and sales behaviors.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with Market Leads, Strategy, and Chief of Staff (CoS) cohorts to deliver against broader organizational goals. Coordinate across the lines of business to sequence the delivery of business intent and manage horizontal project frameworks concurrently.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysis
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer engineering, Software engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field)
- A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration

Pay
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
- Chicago, IL: $149,800 - $171,000 for Business Manager
