Business License & Registration Specialist
Licensing & Compliance Execution
Coordinate business license and registration activities across the lifecycle, including applications, renewals, filings, and associated deliverables.
Ensure filings are completed timely and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Identify delays, gaps, or risks in compliance processes and communicate impacts to timelines or obligations.
Monitor license statuses and ensure alignment between internal records and filed information.
Tracking, Reporting & Financial Reconciliation
Maintain business license records, databases, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness across systems.
Maintain tracking tools to monitor deadlines, filing requirements, and jurisdiction-specific obligations.
Track and reconcile license-related fees, payments, and accruals in coordination with finance and tax systems.
Generate reports and compile data to support tracking, reconciliation, and operational visibility.
Identify and execute on opportunities to streamline business license renewal and registration activities to drive efficiency.
Support Business License audits as they occur.
Research, Analysis & Cross-Functional Coordination
Research state and local licensing requirements, including filing obligations, deadlines, and fee structures.
Gather and organize information to support compliance and registration activities.
Compile findings into structured formats to support review by tax leadership.
Cook up with legal, finance, and field teams to obtain required inputs and ensure timely completion of filings.
Prepare routine communications, including status updates, summaries, and follow-ups on outstanding items.
Serve as a point of contact for licensing-related inquiries from the field.
Other
Aid with other projects/tasks as bandwidth and needs require within Shared Service operations.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Accounting or equivalent experience preferred
- 1+ years of corporate sales tax experience in public accounting and/or private industry preferred, but not required.
- General understanding of state and local tax concepts.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
- Strong analytical and technical skills, along with the ability to work independently and manage workload timely.
- Candidate will be required to work with field staff across the country and provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to efficiently manage a tax calendar and complete all monthly tasks in addition to other duties as assigned.
