About the role
Dupaco Community Credit Union is seeking a Business Lending Consultant to join the Business team. In this role, you will service new and existing business member accounts, assist with incoming business loan volume, and focus on small business relationships and simple business loans (such as lines of credit, equipment loans, and real estate purchases). You will also prepare and review deposit account opening documentation for business deposit accounts.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality service to members, potential members, and coworkers.
- Demonstrate teamwork and professionalism in all interactions.
- Promote a professional image of the credit union at all times.
- Exhibit thorough knowledge of credit union products and services.
- Recognize member needs to cross-sell and educate them on appropriate financial products and services.
- Provide servicing for business accounts by answering member calls, serving as a liaison between business members and business lenders, attending client meetings, assisting with closings, and providing follow-up.
- Interview loan applicants, collect and analyze financial data to determine creditworthiness and the merits of loan requests.
- Establish and negotiate both consumer and business loans, informing members of terms, costs, repayment schedules, and collateral requirements.
- Recommend approval or denial of loan applications as assigned.
- Monitor loan repayment activities and take necessary action in collecting past-due accounts.
- Understand and demonstrate available member technology.
- Stay informed on trends, laws, regulations, and innovations in the field and make recommendations accordingly.
- Demonstrate sound individual judgment, recognizing that decisions may impact the credit union’s risk.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in business/finance or related field, or equivalent experience (preferred).
- Minimum of two years of consumer and/or mortgage lending experience.
- Excellent listening, verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Basic knowledge of laws and regulations governing business or consumer lending practices.
- Ability to demonstrate sound individual judgment.
- Ability to prioritize, organize time, and work independently.
- General knowledge of credit union policies and procedures.
