Responsibilities
- Serve as the Unit’s subject matter expert for individual income tax issues involving BIL related complexities.
- Provide primary support for returns impacted by BIL issues and handle the most complex informal conferences.
- Investigate, analyze, and provide guidance on highly complex inquiries related to BIL tax matters.
- Act as a liaison with taxpayers, tax practitioners, internal Treasury staff, tax-related entities, and other government agencies.
- Serve as the Unit’s liaison to the IIT taxing area, delivering internal training on complex tax topics, policy interpretation, and process/procedure implementation.
- Review and interpret existing and proposed laws, policies, and procedures; provide recommendations and identify impacts to processes and procedures.
- Serve as the point of contact for all litigation cases from the Direct Taxes Division and Attorney General’s Office related to these tax filings, representing the Department as a witness in court proceedings.
Requirements
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major.
- Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
Qualifications
The IITT Unit is a critical resource for the Individual Income Taxes Division, Direct Taxes Division, the Attorney General’s Office, and other internal and external stakeholders due to its deep subject-matter knowledge and technical proficiency.
