About the role

As a Business Director-Chief of Staff at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges, teaming with world-class professionals to develop and test strategies that impact the bottom line. This role is at the center of a pivotal transformation within the Global Payment Network’s U.S. and Canadian Markets (USCM) team, driving growth and scaling impact across sales, risk, technology, and operations. As the primary thought partner to the SVP of USCM, you will serve as a force multiplier, shaping execution, navigating a matrixed organization, and owning the "rhythm of the business" for the senior leadership team. This high-visibility, high-impact platform is designed for those who thrive at the intersection of complex strategy and rapid operational delivery, shifting from advisory to ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business strategies to drive growth, alignment, and stability amid a shifting payments landscape.
  • Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, overseeing multiple projects and programs concurrently.
  • Partner closely with colleagues across the Global Payment Network, including product, technology, strategy, finance, and others to improve quality, volume, service, and profitability.
  • Apply a strategic, analytic orientation to decision-making and problem-solving, leveraging both conceptual thinking and quantitative analysis.
  • Demonstrate strong business judgment, leadership, and integrity, driving a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business.
  • Exhibit impeccable written and oral communication skills, with the ability to influence strategically and negotiate effectively.
  • Maintain a clear results orientation, executing agendas in uncertain and fluid environments while achieving both short- and long-term goals.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and dynamic setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • At least 4 years of experience performing quantitative analysis.
  • At least 4 years of experience performing qualitative analysis.
  • At least 2 years of experience performing people management.
  • At least 2 years of experience performing project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in financial services.
  • 1+ year of experience in consulting.

Pay

The annual salary ranges for this role are as follows:

  • McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000
  • Riverwoods, IL: $209,500 - $239,100
  • Chicago, IL: $209,500 - $239,100

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
