Business Development Specialist, Lead
Location: East Farmingdale, NY
About the Role
Responsible for selling the company’s products and growing the business. Primary responsibility includes identifying new business opportunities, generating and developing new OEM/VAR partners to sell the company’s products to end-users. Develops new accounts and/or expands existing OEM/VAR customer revenues. New business pursuits will involve multi-level business development (BD) efforts, requiring building credibility and developing relationships both externally and internally.
Responsibilities
- Develop BD strategies to produce maximum market penetration.
- Identify objectives, strategies, and action plans to improve short- and long-term orders, sales, and earnings.
- Review market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and business terms.
- Analyze market statistics to formulate strategies and promote new growth.
- Deliver sales presentations to key clients.
- Meet with key clients, maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
- Establish and maintain close personal contact with key existing and potential new customers.
- Plan for and attend conferences and other external meetings to drive business opportunities and strategies.
- Travel at least 25% of the time.
- Structure, secure approvals, and execute negotiation strategies to capture contracts for new and existing products, programs, and services.
- Lead proposal development activities including scope definition, capture strategy, pricing support, proposal process improvements, and cross-functional coordination to improve competitive positioning and business growth.
- Oversee project turnover activities at project launch post-award to ensure proper connection to project inputs from proposal generation, including budgets, make/buy assumptions, risk assessment, and execution strategy.
- Report to customers and management on market, strategies, and execution plans related to new product or market business development.
Requirements
- Must be a US citizen.
- 4-6 years of experience in Business Development, Engineering, Project Management, or other related fields.
- Knowledge and experience in Naval Defense and/or Commercial Nuclear industries preferred.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept directions on given assignments.

Pay
Salary: $125,300 - $167,000 per year. The pay range provided is a general guideline for a position based in New York. Criteria such as qualifications, relevant experience, scope of the specific position, and market and business considerations will be evaluated when extending an offer.
