Pay

$130,000 – $145,000, based on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend potential new projects within the Energy Management market, including strategic development and market penetration.
  • Develop and coordinate strategy and lead the preparation of proposals and presentations to secure new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with functional departments on strategy formulation and lead proposal preparation and client negotiations to meet IPS Energy Management business unit goals.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients and strategic partners.
  • Formulate strategies to address and develop market objectives and segments, while creating action plans based on those strategies.
  • Direct departmental efforts to maintain and improve client relationships and establish new ones with potential clients.
  • Assist or be responsible for:
    • Establishing and maintaining relationships with mid- and senior-level executives in client and partner organizations.
    • Staying informed about clients' current and future growth plans, projects, and technical/programmatic requirements.
    • Demonstrating how IPS can meet client needs and expectations through personal knowledge and collaboration with other IPS staff.
  • Lead and actively participate in strategic planning for business development and lead generation.
  • Monitor competitors' business development activity and strategies, including pricing trends and approaches.
  • Track won and lost projects to determine why IPS was or was not selected.
  • Oversee the preparation and coordination of proposals, including developing and managing plans and budgets for winning proposals.
  • Develop collaboration and pricing strategies, and lead proposal and pricing reviews with functional and senior managers.
  • Report to functional management on prospect status, coordinate staffing needs for proposals and prospects, and initiate follow-up and approvals at appropriate management levels per legal instructions and corporate policies.
  • Support strategy development and lead proposal presentations and fee negotiations with clients.
  • Support contract preparation and ensure corporate approval for awarded projects/studies.
  • Oversee research on current and potential strategic markets.
  • Recommend new services and industrial markets the company should actively pursue.
  • Stay informed about business relationships between IPS managers and key executives in client and potential client organizations, ensuring these are leveraged in overall business development efforts.
  • Maintain an active presence in the industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 15 years of relevant work experience in the energy management industry.
  • At least 8 years of direct experience in energy management sales.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial energy management markets, competitors, potential partners, key customer buying factors, specific pricing strategies, trends, and scope of work.
  • Technical understanding of customer facility issues and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of company operations, capabilities, and services for other clients.
  • Awareness of current industry technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize resources.
  • Knowledge of corporate policies and directives related to proposal and contract formulation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to make presentations to clients and executives.
  • Experience in management, supervision, and personnel administration, including staff selection and training.
  • Proven track record in generating business opportunities with clients.
  • Related experience and demonstrated performance required.
  • High self-initiative and ability to work autonomously in a flexibly structured team.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined to work remotely from a home office.
  • Consultative sales approach.
  • Flexible, resilient, and adaptable.
