About the role
Ryder is seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) FMS to join our dynamic team. This role is responsible for developing new customer business within a designated sales territory.
Responsibilities
- Develop pre-sales strategy for target accounts
- Create a sales activity pipeline to meet and exceed required quotas
- Respond proactively to leads provided
- Represent Ryder's full range of services
- Work with Account Representatives (ARs) and Customer Development Managers (CDMs) to transition accounts and enhance sales opportunities
- Ensure new customer orientation is completed
- Develop Direct Customer Coordinator (DCC) opportunities
- Identify and assess prospect needs and value components through quality needs assessment and value-based proposal preparation
- Develop and refine account selling strategies continuously to improve effectiveness
- Inform General Managers (GMs) and CDMs about ongoing sales activities and their potential impact on their areas of responsibility
- Contribute to the effective transition of accounts sold
- Report sales activity to management
- Support sales protocol and Sales Operations Manager (SOM) compliance activities
- Create supportive relationships with Customer Business Units (CBUs)
- Leverage various resources to expand new opportunities, such as Marketing, Distribution Services (MDS), Safety, Finance, etc.
- Create detailed account profiles for all prospect solicitations
- Enhance sales skills, industry knowledge, and personal growth
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business and/or Finance and Accounting or equivalent field
- At least 5 years of consecutive sales excellence in prior roles
- Strong understanding of Ryder's product offerings and ability to represent the full spectrum of Ryder's services

- Multi-tasking, excellent time management, and attention to detail
- Ability to interpret financial data

Pay and Schedule
- Base Salary: $68,000
- Uncapped Commission Structure
- Average Commission Year One: $40,000 - $50,000
- Average Commission Year Two: $50,000 - $60,000+
Schedule
The BDM FMS role is typically full-time, with a flexible schedule to accommodate the demands of the sales territory.
