About the role

We’re looking for a Business Development Lead to build and run a relationship-led growth engine. This person will build new client relationships and help existing accounts grow.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a focused list of target enterprise accounts aligned to our ideal client profile.
  • Identify the right VP/Director level buyers in marketing, brand, corporate communications, and L&D.
  • Create consistent, high-quality discovery meetings using a mix of channels (email, LinkedIn, calls, events, referrals).
  • Lead discovery and early strategy conversations with new prospects, partnering with our Account Manager when needed.
  • Identify whitespace opportunities: new departments, geographies, programs, or use cases where our work could add value.
  • Turn client priorities into concrete next steps and proposals.
  • Lead Management: Track accounts, contacts, activities, and stages using our CRM (HubSpot) to have a reliable view of what’s in play.
  • Pursue partnerships with consulting firms, learning and event platforms, and other complementary vendors that help VMG reach the right mid-market and enterprise buyers.

Requirements

  • Proven B2B sales / BD experience: 5+ years in business development or sales for a creative agency, production company, marketing services firm, or closely related B2B services.
  • A track record of winning new client accounts (not just managing existing ones).
  • An existing network (rolodex) of mid-market and enterprise-level contacts of Marketing, Brand, Corp Comms and Learning & Development leaders.
  • A hands-on, accountable approach: willing to do the work: research, outreach, follow-up, and steady pipeline management.
  • A strategic thinker: able to translate partner business priorities into potential project opportunities.
  • Strong storytelling and framing skills – you can take a complex initiative and frame how creative content solves a business problem.
  • Experience with long sales cycles and enterprise procurement processes; patient, persistent, and organized.
  • A high emotional intelligence: know when to push, when to pause, and how to be direct without being abrasive.
