Business Development Executive
About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our Career Products team at Mercer, a Marsh business. This role is based in San Francisco and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. As a Business Development Executive, you will play a pivotal role in driving the expansion of our Total Rewards Products and Services by supporting the acquisition and development of new mid-market clients within a designated territory.
Responsibilities
- Prospect and generate new client leads through targeted email campaigns, phone outreach, and in-person visits
- Manage and develop self-generated sales opportunities as well as leads provided by Sales Professionals and Lead Generation teams
- Collaborate closely with Sales Professionals to educate clients on a broad range of workforce solutions beyond Total Rewards offerings
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to maximize lifetime revenue and ensure client satisfaction
- Participate actively in proposal development, negotiation processes, and closing deals related to Total Rewards Products and Services
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in sales, preferably in Total Rewards, HR solutions, or related fields
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage clients effectively
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to prospect and close sales independently
- Ability to work collaboratively within a sales team environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Qualifications
- Experience working in a mid-market client segment or similar focused territory
- Familiarity with comprehensive workforce solutions beyond Total Rewards
- A proactive approach to identifying and nurturing sales opportunities
- Strong negotiation skills and experience closing complex deals

Pay
The applicable base salary range for this role is $79,000 to $158,500. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
Schedule
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
