Business Development Executive
About the role
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for contacting prospective customers with a high-level transportation spend. This includes meeting with executive decision-makers to discuss specialized service offerings, such as Dedicated Contract Services (DCS), Fleet Management Solutions (FMS), and Less-Than-Truckload (LTL). As the primary owner of the assigned account(s), you will focus on defining the opportunity strategy to sell to the customer.
Responsibilities
- Conduct lead generation activities for new and incremental business, including cold calling, networking, and other opportunity prospecting methods.
- Visit prospective and existing customers at their corporate headquarters or other sites as needed, requiring travel to meet customer needs.
- Perform various activities related to Opportunity Management and monitoring the health of the account, including:
- Customer KPI review
- Revenue quality monitoring
- Identifying additional opportunities
- Contract and pay terms review to ensure adherence to agreement
- Coordinate with internal teams and the customer to implement the customer's solution, including participation in kick-off meetings.
- Meet with customers and prospective customers to discuss viable opportunities, understand their business needs, identify scope, submit proposals, finalize contracts, and win business.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2-3 years of relevant experience, or
- 5+ years of experience in sales, marketing, or a similar role
- Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of experience
- Background in Accounting/Finance, Transportation Law, HR/Personnel/Risk, or boardroom settings
- Strong communication and internal resource coordination skills for solution development
- Experience negotiating and building contracts
- Ability to develop future-oriented sales plans that align with business strategy and emerging markets
- Self-driven with the ability to seek out work and accomplish goals
- Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
- Knowledge of sales activities and responsibilities for product or service selling
- Ability to analyze customer activities, profiles, and information
- Understanding of the importance of meeting or exceeding targets and driving critical activities to completion
Pay
The expected starting pay range for this position is $106,000.00 – $132,600.00. Factors such as skills, education, experience, and geography may affect starting pay within this range. This position may also be eligible for annual bonuses and incentives based on profitability or volumes, in accordance with the Company’s bonus and incentive plans.
