About the role
The Business Banking Officer drives business and treasury growth by building relationships with new and existing clients. This role involves developing and executing a marketing strategy to attract and secure new clients, promoting the bank’s treasury services—including business accounts and merchant services—and customizing solutions to meet each client’s unique needs. The officer will travel locally within the designated market area and represent the bank at community events, industry seminars, and trade conventions.
Responsibilities
- Proactively engage in individual and joint business development activities to expand the bank’s treasury management client base.
- Establish new business relationships by identifying and targeting prospective clients for treasury management and merchant services.
- Collaborate with loan officers, personal bankers, and branch managers to cross-sell treasury management solutions and broaden the bank’s reach.
- Assess clients’ and prospects’ treasury and cash management needs, recommending tailored solutions based on a comprehensive understanding of bank products and services.
- Prepare and present customized proposals addressing client-specific financial structures and objectives.
- Document all client interactions and sales activities in the 360 View software to monitor progress and ensure follow-up.
- Develop and execute a strategic marketing plan to drive fee income and deposit growth through proactive promotion of treasury management services.
- Meet and achieve sales, referral, and profitability targets related to treasury management and related services.
- Conduct ongoing market research to identify new business opportunities and maintain a competitive edge in treasury management offerings.
- Develop internal and external referral sources through participation in bank events, community activities, and professional groups (e.g., CPAs, attorneys).
- Provide product training, onboarding support, and ongoing service to new treasury management clients, ensuring a seamless implementation experience.
- Monitor and manage risk associated with treasury management clients, including regulatory, operational, reputational, and credit risks.
- Ensure compliance of all treasury management and merchant service offerings with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Periodically review product offerings and client satisfaction, benchmarking competitors and recommending enhancements to maintain market leadership.
- Act as a resource and backup for business banking officers in other markets, supporting treasury management initiatives bankwide.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, aligning treasury solutions with their business strategies and goals.
- Maintain high levels of client retention through effective communication, prompt resolution of concerns, and delivery of exceptional service.
- Represent the bank in the community while upholding and promoting the professional reputation of D.L. Evans Bank.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business preferred.
- Intermediate experience in treasury management, sales, and implementation.
- Thorough knowledge of banking practices, principles, operations, policies, and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with coworkers.
- Proficient in using the Internet, email, and Microsoft Office applications.
