About the role
Relocation assistance is available. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence 4 days per week, based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX; Plano, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Colorado Springs, CO; Charlotte, NC; or Tampa, FL. You will join the Property Pricing State Team, focusing on forecasting analytics, and apply actuarial methods to drive accurate pricing, process improvement, and strategic insights while managing business risks in compliance with internal policies.
Responsibilities
- Independently apply actuarial methodologies to complete structured projects, such as:
- Building tools to test and implement new methodologies that improve actuarial analysis accuracy.
- Utilizing model results to select new variables and refresh existing variables in rating algorithms.
- Analyzing results from multiple methodologies to propose reserve selections and documenting rationale.
- Identify and improve existing processes using actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques.
- Proactively resolve technical issues and escalate appropriate concerns.
- Assist others with troubleshooting and create instructions or training materials for actuarial tools and processes.
- Mentor new team members.
- Apply business acumen to provide actionable insights that solve business problems.
- Communicate insights and solutions effectively to actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of related actuarial, business, or analytical experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may substitute for the degree.
- 2 years of actuarial or analytical business experience.
- 3 Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams completed.
- Experience with actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques supporting fact-based decision-making.
- Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, and developing analysis queries in Python, R, SQL, SAS, BI tools, or similar software.
- Ability to connect technical insights to business problems.
Skills
- Pricing forecasting with experience in trend analysis, claims analytics, and reserving.
- Proficiency in Excel and at least one programming language or modeling software (Python, SQL, R, SAS, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience with basic actuarial pricing methodologies.
- Experience aggregating and analyzing data to solve problems.
- Strong communication skills for diverse audiences, including actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders.
- P&C Personal Lines pricing experience.
- Familiarity with industry pricing software such as Earnix.
- US military experience through service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $77,120 – $138,810. Actual salary may vary by location and is based on experience and market data. Pay incentives may be available based on corporate and individual performance at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors. USAA does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
