Business Analyst
General position summary
Work collaboratively with the Business Unit Leaders to review, analyze and evaluate business systems and user needs in a matrix organization. Document requirements, define scope and objectives and formulate systems and reports to support the overall business strategies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Determine operational objectives by studying business functions and trends - gather information; evaluate output requirements and formats and create supporting reports
- Create workflow charts and diagrams; study system capabilities; write specifications to encapsulate the business service delivery needs
- Work closely with team members to identify opportunities to improve productivity, scalability and profitability of the Business Unit - study current practices, industry trends and identify needs, with a focus on the short and long-term business goals
- Recommend controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures
- Maintain project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions
- Conduct and coordinate financial, product, market, operational and related research to support strategic and business planning within the various departments and programs of the Business Unit
- Interpret, evaluate and interrelate research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic decision-making
- Conduct daily, weekly and monthly reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports
- Suggest changes to Senior Management using analytics to support recommendations - actively participate in the implementation of approved changes
- Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
- Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational challenges
Requirements
- Transportation and Logistics Experience
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Requires the need to manage groups of people, facilitate meetings and oversee Subject Matter Experts to complete assigned tasks
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- Education: Project management engagements, Business requirements documentation skills and/or participation requirements delivery, PMP, CAPM, or CBAP certification or demonstrated knowledge of BABOK helpful

- Microsoft Office Suite
- Advanced Excel

- Experience with ERP/financial systems
- Process mapping experience using Visio or other mapping application
