A Day in the Life

As a Business Analyst, you’ll bridge business needs with technology, primarily across Salesforce CPQ and Oracle Fusion. You’ll partner with Sales, Finance, Operations, and IT to translate requirements into scalable solutions that connect front-end quoting and pricing with back-end financial processes. In a typical day, you’ll gather requirements, map processes, and drive enhancements across both platforms, ensuring data accuracy, system integration, and seamless workflows. You’ll lead discussions, document solutions, support testing, and help drive adoption. Success in this role means balancing business insight with technical understanding, identifying opportunities to improve processes, streamline workflows, and leverage platform capabilities (including AI) to deliver real business value.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze and clarify business problems, goals, and constraints.
  • Translate business needs into actionable requirements.
  • Conduct workshops, interviews, and process walkthroughs to elicit requirements.
  • Resolve conflicting needs and prioritize requirements.
  • Document requirements (BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps).
  • Convert business requirements into technical specifications (FSDs).
  • Ensure documentation is clear and accessible to both business and IT teams.
  • Map current (as-is) and future (to-be) processes.
  • Identify pain points and recommend process improvements within system constraints.
  • Understand how business processes are supported by systems.
  • Suggest configuration changes or enhancements.
  • Analyze business data requirements and define data flows between systems.
  • Assess upstream/downstream impacts of changes.
  • Document test cases and scenarios; support UAT planning and execution.
  • Validate solutions against business requirements.
  • Understand and proficiently use tools such as Jira (or similar), Excel, Visio (or similar), and general business productivity software.

Must Haves

  • 4–5 years of hands-on experience with Salesforce CPQ and/or Oracle Fusion, including implementation, configuration, and support, including Financial month ends.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and capabilities within platforms like Salesforce or Oracle to drive automation and improve business outcomes.
  • Experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, and process modeling.
  • Familiarity with business systems, data flows, and testing methodologies.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant tools (Jira, Excel, Visio, etc.).
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and structured thinker.
  • Break down complex problems into manageable parts using analytical thinking.
  • Ensure careful, accurate documentation and testing.
  • Organize information logically and manage work across project phases.
  • Focus on delivering business value and prioritize high-impact features and changes.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with tax engines such as Avalara or Vertex.
  • Experience with revenue engines such as RevPro or RecVue.
  • A general understanding of ADP and expense reporting applications.
  • A knowledge of ACH processes.
