About Us
This is a great time to join Gloucestershire County Council, as Children’s Services is on an exciting journey, which focuses our approach into being more creative, strengths-based and person-centred, to ensure that we work together to ‘Make a Difference’ to our local communities. We are an agile working organisation with a combination of office-based working and working from home (essential equipment is provided). We place a high premium on diversity and inclusion, as well as on health and wellbeing and we offer a flexible working scheme which is based on business need. We offer Continued Professional Development and will support you to develop your skills and career prospects within Children’s Services.
About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for someone with a desire to learn and develop in administration, to complete their Level 3 qualification within the Children and Families Business Support Team. This is a fantastic chance to gain a qualification through practical experience in a busy office environment and through spending time learning in an educational setting. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training and development opportunities throughout their apprenticeship.
The role is based in our Stroud locality office, supporting Stroud Children’s Services. You will have an opportunity to learn about different Children’s Services teams and the key part that our administrators play in assisting our practitioner colleagues to support vulnerable children and families in Gloucestershire.
In addition to studying for your NVQ your duties will include:
- Dealing with telephone enquiries, taking messages and passing to practitioners.
- Preparing documents using Microsoft Word.
- Updating spreadsheets using Excel.
- Booking meetings using Microsoft Teams and our internal room booking system.
- Uploading documents to our bespoke database Liquid Logic (training will be provided).
- Use of a range of IT software systems.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who are keen to develop their skills in administration and contribute to a more innovative way of working. You must, therefore, be adaptable, have excellent communication skills and have the ability to prioritise workload.
Working in Children’s Services does require an applicant who can be proactive or responsive to changing demands and resilient to some of the tough emotional content of the role. However, it is also a role that can bring great reward and job satisfaction.
