About the Role
Ride buses and assist the driver to provide safe and orderly transportation of students with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Follow verbal instructions from the driver and dispatch.
- Operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment on the bus.
- Assist students with disabilities during boarding, riding, and exiting the bus.
- Perform emergency evacuation procedures, including climbing in and out of the school-bus emergency door.
- Maintain effective control over groups of students while ensuring their safety.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions accurately.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Must maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands & Environmental Factors
- Frequent walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
- Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds).
- Work both inside and outside the bus.
- Exposure to machinery with moving parts, vehicles, moderate heat, and vehicle fumes.
